On the Corso At Night, Wandering and Slow, My Education Continues

As we discussed the merits of window-shop shots,
Rebecca wondered how the time of day played out.

In no way did I hear “I wonder” as bald stricture.
Who had thought to bring night into the picture?

Separate Corners of del Trivio

The family photo album from last week’s diversion still
Asks me to translate the legend below Via Dei Focaroli.

Meanwhile, a cartoon on the other side of the other room
Matches the caption’s sincerity to the heart of the kitchen.

Unusual Fare (at Our Usual Place)

Umberto knows what Rebecca is bound to say:
Per me, io voglio “ravioli e un’insalata mista.”
Certain of her order, the kitchen jokes away.

He also knows full sentences escape me totally.
As he knows I’m most likely to say minestrone.
So I knew he’d cheer my gnocchi e carciofi ripeni.

Mirella, I surmise, may have worried about my order.
Why else did she keep checking back on my pleasure?
(Like all the times she’s checked on my fair share?)

Tonight, as usual, Rebecca is thinking she is stuffed.
Un dolce?, Umberto suggests. We say just the decaf.
Then Mirella offers gelato con fragole, and we cave.

Sunday Morning, Coming Down the Corso

With the training wheels off my Canon camera,
I find myself in dire need of the manual.

The Late Crowd (After the Market)

A Familiar Sense of Place

The Petit Paris Boutique sounds totally out of place in Spoleto:
Far too haute, it leaves a brand name on la mia carta di credito.

Yet nice ladies, obviously both locals, are always so welcoming:
Their whimsical trends for the spring just arrived from Bologna.

Each day in the course of our journey, there are places
We’ll remember. Though some have changed, most remain.

A Travel Tip: Consult With Doctor Google

Based on the name, shin splints should be self-medicating.

Based on my research, the recommended treatment is rest.

Based on a survey, Umbrian hills don’t allow for much of one:

Based on the weather report, tomorrow may bring a respite.
